What is Fallout 4?

If you've been out of the loop for the past 10 years, Fallout 4 is a role-playing shooter game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The game is based on the premise that both America and China unleashed their nuclear weapons, leading to the end of the world. To prepare for this, the Vault-Tec corporation constructed underground vaults to protect people from the catastrophe. However, those who sought refuge in the vaults might have been unknowingly involved in various experiments with different outcomes.

You play as a character who was placed in a cryogenic vault, along with your family, to be awakened once Earth became habitable. However, upon awakening, you discover that your family has been unfrozen and your son has been taken, while your partner was killed trying to protect him. Now, you must decide whether to pursue your son or explore this new world.

What are Fallout 4 mods?

Fallout 4 mods enable players to modify the game in various ways, such as adding new weapons, gameplay mechanics, and even entirely new questlines. Modders have created numerous mods, which are available on the popular modding site https://nexusmods.com. To make the installation process easier and quicker, I have created a guide to help you with installing these mods effortlessly.

Install Fallout 4

Before we dive in installing the Fallout 4 mods, let's make sure you've got everything you need to install them Here are the prerequisites you'll need to meet:

• Fallout 4 GOTY or (Fallout 4 with all DLCs purchased) on Steam
• A PC (Can be Windows, MacOS or Linux. But this guide is for Windows 10)
• For a 7zip extractor program, simply go to 7-Zip
• Nexus Mods Vortex app

Now we can begin the installation process.

• Start Steam
• Click On Library
• In the Search bar input Fallout 4:

• Click INSTALL
• Select a drive to install the game, preferably an SSD.

• Click Install
• And wait. This will depend on your connection speed and other variables.
• Once Installed Click on Fallout 4 in the left-hand pane.
• Then click Play

This will load the Fallout 4 launcher which will then detect your hardware and optimal settings.

• Click OK when the below dialogue appears:

• It should take a few seconds, and then the below dialogue appears. Click OK again:

• Finally Press PLAY
• When the below menu screen appears click QUIT

We are now ready to start installing mods.

Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch

The first Fallout 4 mod we will install is the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, which requires all 15 DLCs to be installed in order to work. If you don't have them, I recommend purchasing the Fallout 4 GOTY edition.

• Go to this webpage. The below screen will appear:

• Scroll down the page until you can see the File tab. Click it:

• Click Mod Manager Download

• Click DOWNLOAD
• The website will then request you log in or register.
• Click Slow Download if you don't have Premium otherwise, click Fast Download.

If Vortex doesn't start, open the application manually. Then click on Games find Fallout 4 and click Manage.

• Vortex will automatically download and install the mod with little input from you.

Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource and Armorsmith Extended

We will be installing two Fallout 4 mods this time: Armor and Weapons Keywords Community Resource, and the Weaponsmith mod. The Armorsmith Extended mod expands the in-game crafting system, enabling the creation of better armor and weapons with additional effects. The Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource is a prerequisite for the Armorsmith Extended mod, providing mod developers with access to more game features.

• Click here
• Repeat the same steps as before to install this mod.
• When Vortex finishes installing a Mod wizard will appear select the following options:

• Click Power Armor Patches
• On the next screen Click Finish.

Now install Armorsmith Extended

• Click here
• Install the mod just like we did with the Unofficial Patch.
• This mod will automatically install and require no input from you.

Start Me Up

The start of Fallout 4 is a memorable experience. However, even the biggest fan will get sick of playing through it for the third or more times. The Start Me Up Fallout 4 mod allows the player to skip the introduction and get straight to playing the game. When you try to leave the bathroom, the game provides you three options:

• Playthrough the tutorial segmant
• Skip the tutorial segment, but story remains the same.
• The tutorial never happened.

To install this Fallout 4 mod, do the following:

• Click here
• Select the below option under Normal Dialogue Prompts

• This mod requires no input from the player when installing so you can move on to the next mod.

Achievements

Out of all the Fallout 4 mods installed so far, I would say the Achievements mod is optional. If Steam achievements aren't something you are particularly concerned about then skip this.

To install Achievements it requires the Fallout 4 Script Extender. Follow the below first before installing the Achievements guide:

• Click here
• Select 7z Archive:

• Open the Downloads Folder
• Right-click on the downloaded file and extract the files into your game directory (you need 7Zip)
• Run the FSE_Loader.exe in the game directory and if it is installed correctly the game should load.

Now to install Achievements

• Click here
• Install the Mod using the mod manager.

Sim Settlements 2

The addition of Fallout 4 Settlements was a new feature in the franchise, allowing players to create multiple settlements where survivors can live and hopefully prosper. However, apart from a few main questlines, the settlement feature was underused and had much potential. To expand on this feature, the Sim Settlements 2 Fallout 4 mod adds new storylines and features to the settlements gameplay.

This Fallout 4 mod includes the following features:

• Recruit new and unique settlers.
• Improve settlers' SPECIAL stats.
• Seasonal decorations.
• Summon settlers away from settlements to pick up resources.
• Themed settlements.
• Add-On Packs to further increase the content.

Before we can install it, however, two dependencies are needed: the HUD framework and the workshop framework.
